2017 Presentation Day

Tournament of the Minds

On Sunday 24th August, fourteen students competed in the Tournament of the Minds Competition at the University of Western Sydney, Kingswood. The two teams were very busy for the first six weeks of Term 3 spending every lunch time and Thursday afternoon preparing for the event.

Market Day: Learning in Action

Friday 29th August was Nagle College’s annual market day. This is a day when Year 9 commerce students are able to put their learning into action by opening their small businesses to the school community during lunchtime. It was a great day where a variety of products were sold with students rushing to get their favourite pizza, chicken, churros, kebabs, wraps, lolly bags and more.

Premier's Reading Challenge

The Premier's Reading Challenge is an annual reading event that is designed to foster a love of reading in students from Years K-9 all over Australia. This year, we had 33 readers at Nagle College complete the Challenge, which is almost 30% more than in the past.

Book Swap

In celebration of Book Week, the Nagle College Library hosted its annual Book Swap. This year, there were about 70 girls who participated, which was a fantastic turn out. Every girl brought in books to donate, swap and share.

Year 8 Science Longneck Lagoon Excursion

On Monday 4th, Tuesday 5th and Monday 11th August year 8 A, B, C& D students and teachers headed to Longneck Lagoon the environmental education centre at Maraylya.

Winter Warrior Challenge

On Tuesday, August 12 six girls from our school participated in the Winter Warrior Interschool’s Challenge. Our team members were Alyson Armitage, Bronte Groeneveld, Darcy Ward, Rebecca Copping, Katherine Tanks and myself. We endured a 15 km course filled with all types of terrain and a range of obstacles.

On Friday 20 June, the Quarterfinal round of the CSDA Debating Competition took place at Santa Sabina College. The Year 9 team debated McCarthy College but unfortunately were not successful in progressing to the next round.

McCarthy Catholic Trade Training Centre assistant principal, John Wills, said trade training courses are not only a great employment pathway for secondary students, they also help to address the skills shortage in trades such as brick and blocklaying.
