On Thursday 29th June our Year 9 netball team played Marist Sisters Woolwich in the MCCS netball grand final at Netball Central in Homebush.
The girls have been undefeated all season going into the finals first on the ladder. It was an extremely close game with the girls being up by one or two at the end of each quarter.
Last quarter had everyone on the edge of their seats as the buzzer went leaving us at a score of 30-30. This resulted in extra time where our girls had a fantastic start moving up to 33-30. Unfortunately in the last 3 mins of extra time Woolwich made a comeback and won the grand final 41-38.
It was a phenomenal game to watch and we couldn’t be prouder of the Year 9 team. The girls never gave up, they fought to the end and played with heart. Their coaches Ms Desho and Miss Attwood congratulate them on a fantastic season and we can’t wait for a comeback next year.
Congratulations again to our students Lily Hardman, Kirra Salinas, Cassidy Regan, Jacinta Kailash, Renee Monastiriotis, Halle Blyberg, Takeiah DeLuca, Sine Aualiitia and Caitlin McNamara.
Finally a big thank you to all the students who assisted with umpiring games throughout the term and to our parents who have come along to support our girls not only at the finals but throughout the term. We love having you there to cheer on the girls and keep track of the score. Thank you.
